A sure sign of spring is when the Swedish roads are filled with motor vehicles other than cars and trucks – of course we refer to motorcycles in all different shapes and sizes.
One who has always had a big interest in engines and motorcycles is Reijo Talvitie, local in Järfälla, owner of RMB Bikes. The company is running projects based on building motorcycles. When the idea of the look of a motorcycle come to life the process of making a custom made model begins. A single project, from idea to the time the motorcycle is finished, can take up to one year.
Today RMB Bikes is primarily doing its own project not depending on initiative from single buyers. Reijo is open to the possibility of letting individual people realise their dream of having a custom made motorcycle.
So far three motorcycles have been completed, Reijos favourite is the bike called Zebra. The other two completed is Terminator and AC Cobra. The last is made of an original Cobra, there are only a few samples of this collectors car in Sweden, which the king of Sweden owns one of them.
Today RMB Bikes is running a project with The Swedish Children’s Cancer Foundation. With the help of sponsors and financiers RMB Bikes will build a motorcycle dedicated to research on childhood cancer. When the motorcycle is finished it will be sold at the auction firm Bukowskis in Stockholm – all proceeds from sale will go to The Swedish Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The cost of taking part in this project is 25.000 SEK. The estimated total cost of this building project is about 375.000 SEK that means that the participation of 15 companies is necessary. Even if the money is important to realise this project, the heart and the labour for The Swedish Children’s Cancer Foundation is the key.
